Update from The Community Foundation

10 February 2011

The Women's Fund makes First Grants

The Women's Fund at The Community Foundation for Ireland made its first grants in late 2010.

Over €440k worth of applications were received so there is clearly demand for such a fund.

Ultimately The Community Foundation could only fund 10 projects totalling €17,250.

Among those supported were Women’s Aid, Domestic Violence Response Ltd in Co Galway, Meath Women's Refuge & Support Services and Tipperary Regional Youth Service in the first round.

Details of all grants made are here.

See http://www.foundation.ie/our-grants/apply-for-other-grants for more information on applying.

2010 – Best Year Yet for The Community Foundation

The Community Foundation made total grants of over €2.2million in 2010 and saw an increase in the number of funds under its management to over 40.

2010 was the best year yet in terms of both grant-making and new funds, so despite everything philanthropy is still on the up.
