Upcoming Training Seminar - Effective Engagement with Trusts and Foundations: understanding donor motivation

This half-day event presents a unique opportunity to hear and question a panel of key decision makers of Irish philanthropic Trusts and Foundations. In addition you will hear from charities who have been successful in their own quest for trust funding.
Overview:
Getting grants involves more than just writing good proposals. This seminar will explore the importance of research and how to do it; provide an overview of proven methods for good Trust and Foundations proposals and essential advice on maintaining strong relationships with key funders.

Presentation Outline: Seamus Mulconry will give an overview on the role of Philanthropy Ireland and its members; the progress that has been made on promoting strategic giving among private donors; and on how charities can engage more effectively with Trusts and Foundations. |
| 14.30pm | Session 2: The Charity Perspective – how to build effective relationships Speakers: Michael Barron, CEO, BeLonG To Youth Services & Paul Rowe, CEO at Educate Together Presentation Outline: This session will give an overview from the grantees perspective and outline how relationships are developed with key donors; how they are maintained and how the grantee charities ensure that they effectively report and engage with their strategic donors. |

| 15.50pm | Session 3: The Funders Perspective - An overview of effective engagement with Trusts and Foundations in Ireland & panel discussion. Speakers: Vicky Brown, Portfolio Manager at The One Foundation; James Foley Fund Administrator at Electric Aid; Caitriona Fottrell, Director at The Ireland Funds and Mark Keane, Strategy Executive at Atlantic Philanthropies. Presentation Outline: Each of the panel will make a short 10-minute presentation on their funding strategies; their views on the partnerships they have formed; what makes for a good relationship between donor and grantee and the key challenges that donors face when working with charities. This session and panel discussion will be chaired by Mary O’Kennedy, Fundraising Ireland. Questions and comments from the floor to the panel will be actively encouraged and can be submitted to info@fundraisingireland.ie in advance of the seminar. |
