07 February 2011

Jonathan Sexton, the Irish rugby star, is delighted to be giving his support to the Go West Challenge, a two day cycling event on 6th – 8th of May 2011 that will finish with a climb up Croagh Patrick in aid of DEBRA Ireland.

Jonathan Sexton “I am delighted to be here today supporting DEBRA Ireland who do great work for children living with EB. I have so much respect for the patients and families; they are real heroes in my eyes.”Debra Ireland: Go West Challenge

The DEBRA Ireland Go West Challenge will consist of two days cycling over 240km from Maynooth to Westport, with an overnight stay in Carrick on Shannon.  The final day will see the mighty Croagh Patrick in Westport being conquered with a celebratory barbeque being enjoyed at the foot of the mountain by all to celebrate a fantastic weekend.

DEBRA Ireland offers this superb challenge to anyone fit enough to undertake this challenge and fundraise raise €650 for the charity.   Having secured the target fundraising amount, they will be offered entry to the challenge, accommodation and evening meals for 2 nights, coach transfer from hotel in Westport to Croagh Patrick, celebratory barbeque, coach transfer back to Maynooth, cycling insurance, full back up services on the cycle and climb and a specially commissioned cycling shirt, designed especially for the challenge.  Bicycle support during the weekend will be given by 2Wheels.ie

The weekend promises to be both challenging and personally rewarding boosted by the knowledge that a deserving charity DEBRA Ireland is directly benefiting from everyone’s fundraising efforts.
