One4All backs charity Christmas Jumper

Following the debate over Ryan Tubridy’s Late Late Toy Show outfit, Christmas jumpers are set to become an even bigger theme, with a Christmas Jumper Day scheduled for December 22.

The event is sponsored by the Gift Voucher Shop and its One4All brand, which is the prize sponsor for the charity Christmas radio station, Christmas FM. The beneficiary is children’s charity Barnardos, which is the charity partner this year for Christmas FM.

Staff at On€4All,based in Swords in Dublin, have been customising jumpers for the occasion. The emphasis is on persuading other workplaces to do likewise for December 22 which, for many people, will be the last day of work before the holidays.

Anyone who wears a Christmas jumper on the day gives a small donation to Barnardos. Anyone too shy to wear a jumper to the office can also trigger One4All to make a €1 donation to Barnardos by uploading a picture of themselves wearing a colourful jumper to Facebook.

Donations can be made on the Barnardos website or on the One4All Facebook page.

The Facebook campaign goes live tomorrow, with a daily prize of a €25 voucher for the best picture. The overall best photo will get a €250 voucher and a Christmas jumper from Funkychristmasjumpers.com.

GiftVoucher Shop group marketing manager Aoife Davey said Barnardos and Christmas FM had a large social media following, so thousands of participants could be expected.

‘‘Feedback so far has been great, so we’re expecting this to go very well in offices,” she said.

Davey said Christmas proved very good for On€4All,with an unexpectedly strong 27 per cent pickup in sales since the same period last year. The company, which is headed by Michael Dawson, expanded its offering in the past year. He said it was doing well on the corporate side, as businesses pick up on vouchers to fund the bike-to-work scheme and a savings scheme.
