Fundraising Ireland appoints CEO
25 October 2012
Fundraising Ireland (FI) are delighted to announce the appointment of our first Chief Executive – Anne Maguire. Anne brings a wealth of leadership and management experience in the not for profit sector most recently as CEO of Haven. Prior to Haven, Anne has held senior positions in Goal, Lehman Brothers and KCSA PR in New York. Anne will lead out on the implementation of the Fundraising Ireland strategic plan and will be especially focused on delivering on the FI core mission of building fundraising capacity in the not for profit sector.
Chair of Fundraising Ireland Aidan Stacey welcomed Anne’s appointment saying “Fundraising Ireland is at a crucial stage of its development and on behalf of the board, I’m delighted to have appointed a CEO with the leadership, drive and experience which Anne will bring to our organisation. The demand from our members has increased over the last number of years and Fundraising Ireland aims to continue to deliver on their needs. The appointment of Anne as CEO will ensure we can achieve our goal of delivering on our member’s expectations.”
“I am excited and honoured to join Fundraising Ireland as the new CEO” said Anne Maguire. “Never has the role of fundraising been more important than at this time of government spending cuts and continued economic uncertainty.
I have been impressed by Fundraising Ireland's achievements to date under the management of the volunteer board and committed staff and I’m delighted to be joining this dedicated team. Fundraising Ireland is now extremely well positioned to ensure fundraisers in Ireland, the lifeblood of any charity, are at the forefront of international best practice and that they are fully supported through our professional educational programmes and high quality events.
I have over 15 years experience in the charitable sector and am passionate about the work that the voluntary, community and charitable sectors deliver. So I will be relentless in seeking innovative ways to improve what we do in the best interests of our members and fundraising in Ireland.”
Fundraising Ireland has received funding from the government through the Forum on Philanthropy & Fundraising and the One Foundation. Both these investments are aimed at ensuring that the not for profit sector in Ireland have the fundraising capacity to deliver in the current climate of austerity.
Fundraising Ireland’s strategic plan focuses on developing and increasing the education resource available in fundraising. In September of this year FI held its first certificate in Fundraising and 2013 will see both the continuation of the certificate and the introduction of a new diploma in Fundraising.
