Community Foundation launches 2010 Annual Report at Special 10 Year Celebration Event

Tina Roche, CEO of The Community Foundation for Ireland spoke at The Foundation’s 10 Year Celebration Event on Thursday 19th May, which was held in The Exchange in Dublin. Many of the donors, community and voluntary groups and other stakeholders who the Foundation has worked with over the past 10 years attended the event. The Community Foundation for Ireland

Ms Roche also commented:“Notwithstanding the really difficult economic climate in 2010, 14 new funds were set up so that by the year end there were over 50 funds at the Community Foundation. The Foundation was able to distribute €2.208m in grants in 2010.In the past 10 years we have seen the importance of prudent financial management of funds, the power of people to inspire and assist others in good and bad times and the resilience and resourcefulness of the community and voluntary sector.”

The event was also addressed by Sr Stanislaus Kennedy, Board Member of The Community Foundation for Ireland who spoke about how the availability of independent philanthropic funding is so important to the community and voluntary sector in Ireland, in particular in straitened times.
