Christmas events at Christchurch Cathedral

One of our members, Bernie Murphy at Christ Church Cathedral has asked us to share their Christmas events with you. They are as follows:

Christ Church Christmas EventsSpecial Services

29th November 5pm Advent Procession

Marking the beginning of the Advent period, this candlelit procession through the cathedral is one of the most popular services of the year, featuring the cathedral choir and congregational carols.

19th December 8pm Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols

This is the main carol service of the festive period featuring a variety of carols, music and readings. This event is free but ticketed; please apply in writing to the cathedral office, enclosing an SAE. Applications should be marked ‘Nine Lessons’

24th December 11pm Christmas Eve

The Nativity of our Lord: an atmospheric sung service marking the end of Advent and the start of the Christmas celebrations.

25th December 11am Christmas Day

Festal Sung Eucharist for Christmas Day: a joyful sung service to celebrate Christmas Day, featuring music from Handel’s Messiah.

Christmas Events

Christmas Market. 26th November & 3rd, 10th 17th December.11am -4pm

Christ Church Christmas Market is returning to the cathedral for four Saturdays over November and December. The 12th century crypt, which is the oldest structure in Dublin, will house stalls selling arts, crafts and unique presents. There will also be food stalls in the grounds providing warming festive treats. Entry to the grounds and to the Christmas Market is free

Cathedral Choir Christmas Concert. 15th December 8pm

This popular concert returns for another year, offering festive fun for all the family. Singing a variety of classic carols and modern favourites, the renowned cathedral choir will inspire and entertain, whilst the rousing audience carols will really get you into the Christmas spirit! Tickets cost €18 (€14 concessions) and are available at www.tickets.ie

There will be many other concerts taking part in the cathedral over the festive period including the Three Tenors, The Dublin Gospel Choir as part of the Dublin New Year’s Festival, and the hugely popular Irish Baroque Orchestra/Resuragm Messiah. See our website or contact:
