2into3 report claims philanthropic giving in Ireland increased by 24% in 2010

22 September 2011

2into3 launched their Second Annual Report on Fundraising in Ireland today, claiming there was an overall 24% increase in fundraised income in the not-for-profit sector between 2009 and 2010.  The Report - drawn form a survey of 171 not for profit organisations - also suggests that this increase in fundraising is not uniform across the sector and has been led by increased donations into the international aid organisations with donations to organisations providing domestic services increasing slightly. Overall, there continues to be large variances in performance amongst organisations sector-wide.

Areas highlighted from the report at this mornings launch seminar were:

  • The International subsector represented 13% of the research sample but accounted for 60% of the fundraised income. However, this they believe, is down to the public's response to the Haitian Earthquake at The Pakistan floods.
  • Change in fundraised income between 2009 and 2010 =   +23.9%
  • Change in fundraised income between 2009 and 2010 =  +5.7%  (Excluding International Development subsector)
  • Average cost to raise €1 in 2010 =  15.4c
  • Average cost to raise €1 in 2010 =  29.9c (Excluding International Development subsector)
