Business to Arts

Business to Arts brokers, enables and supports creative partnerships between business and the arts.

It works with artists and arts organisations providing a range of training opportunities and coaching to help diversify income streams, grow audiences and improve efficiencies.

Carmichael Centre

Carmichael Centre is the first and largest shared services centre for the community and voluntary sector in Ireland. Each year they support 47 resident member charities located within the Centre in Dublin 7, 100's of associate members located throughout Ireland, 1000's of volunteers, boards members, managers and staff who avail of training, information, organisational supports and meeting facilities.

They support organisations from start-up and throughout their development by providing the following services:

  • Office space on sole occupier or shared basis
  • Meeting rooms and full catering facilities for up to 50 people
  • Direct marketing services, postal services, reception and administration support
  • IT technical support, IT consultancy, payroll outsourcing and accountancy services
  • Training programmes covering topics affecting all aspects of running a successful organisation including charities legislation compliance, financial management, employment law, communications and promotion, board roles and responsibilities, team leadership, conflict resolution, fundraising, monitoring and evaluation
  • Customised training delivered nationwide all year round
  • Telephone Support Service
  • Consultancy service

Services are available to all groups nationwide. By becoming an Associate Member, these services are provided at a reduced cost.

CASE (Council for Advancement and Support of Education)

Headquartered in Washington, DC, with offices in London and Singapore, the Council for Advancement and Support of Education is the professional organisation for fundraising/development professionals at all levels who work in alumni relations, communications, and development. CASE's membership includes more than 3,300 colleges, universities, and independent schools in 54 countries around the world and now has more than 200 member institutions in the United Kingdom, Ireland, and continental Europe. CASE helps its members build stronger relationships with their alumni and donors, raise funds for campus projects, produce recruitment materials, market their institutions to prospective students, diversify the profession, and foster public support of education. The Center on Philanthropy at Indiana University (USA)

Founded in 1987, the centre is a leading academic center dedicated to increasing the understanding of philanthropy and improving its practice through research, teaching, public service and public affairs. It is the home of The Fundraising School which is the only international fundraising education program housed within a university. The Fundraising School helps thousands of fundraising professionals per year around the world achieve new levels of success. Collectively, the Fundraising School faculty of 48 people has over 500 years of fundraising experience. The School teaches the historical and philanthropic context, the current issues, and the art and science of fundraising and philanthropy.

The Centre for Nonprofit Management

The Centre for Nonprofit Management was established in 2000 as an initiative of the School of Business Studies, Trinity College Dublin. Its members are engaged in research, education and dialogue on and about the Third Sector, non-profit organisations and voluntary action. Through these programme activities the Centre seeks to:

  • Contribute to the understanding of non-profit organisations, their emergence, management and impact on wider society

CREATE

Create is the national development agency for collaborative arts practice. As a membership based arts support organisation, it provides services for arts practitioners, arts organisations and arts projects, including advice on project planning, management, funding and best practice. Create manages the Artist in the Community Scheme, for the Arts Council, and publishes the Irish Fundraising Handbook, which provides comprehensive information for fundraisers as well as a directory of funding sources for voluntary work in Ireland.

Dóchas

Dóchas is the umbrella organisation of Irish Non-Governmental Organisations (NGOs) involved in development and relief overseas and/or in the provision of development education. Dóchas aims to provide a forum for consultation and co-operation between its Members as well as to help them speak with a single voice on development issues. Dóchas is not a funding agency and is not involved in overseas projects.

The Institute of Fundraising (UK)

The Institute of Fundraising is the professional membership body for UK fundraisers, working to promote the highest standards in fundraising practice and management. The Institute offers an extensive programme of training and networking events across the UK. Their flagship annual event is the National Convention, which is the largest event of its type for fundraisers and senior charity representatives, outside the USA. Ireland Donates - Ireland's Exchange Network for Charities and NGOs

Each year in Ireland companies dispose of vast quantities of IT equipment, furniture and office supplies that could be reused again by organisations working within the social field. In an effort to change this situation we have created an online exchange portal for the benefit of charities and NGOs. This is a free and easy to use service where companies and charities can donate or request items or services such as furniture, computers, software, office equipment, expertise, transport, advertising etc.

Irish Charity Shops Association

The Irish Charity Shops Association was formed to support charities that operate shops in Ireland as part of their fundraising activities. By pooling expertise and joining forces to promote common interests, they help members to run their shops more effectively and efficiently. Members range from the large national charities to the smaller locally based ones and currently there are 22 members representing approximately 300 shops throughout Ireland.

Irish Charities Tax Research (ICTR)

Irish Charities Tax Research Ltd (ICTR) was set up in 2000 by its sister organisation, the Irish Charities Tax Reform Group (ICTRG) with the specific aim of providing research, information, and education on taxation and regulation issues that affect charities in Ireland. ICTR Ltd is also a charity in its own right. Our objectives are:

  • To carry out research into how policy on taxation and regulation impact on the work of charities in Ireland.
  • To provide information and advice to charities, and those with an interest in charities, on regulation and taxation issues that affect them.
  • To organise high quality, relevant education and training events for charities on an ad hoc basis as issues arise.

The Irish Fundraising Forum for Direct Recruitment (IFFDR)

Established in 2003, The IFFDR is a voluntary body composed of over 20 charities and providers of direct recruitment services (i.e. door to door and street fundraising). The primary function of the Forum is to establish and maintain best practice standards in direct recruitment fundraising across the sector and to provide the public with information about this fundraising activity. In addition, the organisation maintains a diary system for members to avoid clashes and ensure that sites are not overworked, and also makes submissions to Government etc regarding relevant matters to the sector.

The Medical Research Charities Group (MRCG)

The MRCG was formed in 1998 to inform and support charities in Ireland in the development of their medical research through one unified voice. The MRCG represent the interests of patients and its members on relevant statutory committees, and on national and international forums. The MRCG provides peer support, networking opportunities, information and training opportunities, leadership on issues relevant to medical research charities, opportunities for new funding sources, and public awareness. Philanthropy Ireland

Philanthropy Ireland is the Association of independent philanthropic organisations in Ireland, including grant making trusts and foundations. Established in 1998 as a voluntary and informal network called the Funders’ Forum, the organisation assumed a new legal structure in 2004 and changed its name to Philanthropy Ireland.

Philanthropy Ireland’s work includes the following:

The Resource Alliance

The Resource Alliance is a UK registered charity whose mission is to build the fundraising capabilities of the non-profit sector worldwide. Social Entrepreneurs Ireland

Social Entrepreneurs Ireland is an organisation aimed at encouraging and supporting the development of social entrepreneurship in Ireland. It fosters the early stage development of a new generation of social entrepreneurs and by actively working in conjunction with the business, third level and voluntary sectors to support the development of a new social entrepreneurship. A range of supports are offered to successful social entrepreneurs including:

  • Offering them technical assistance (including related to securing funding for their ideas)
