Bernard Ross, The Management Centre (= mc)
Bernard is Director of the Management Centre (=mc), a global consultancy working solely for value driven organisations. =mc has offices in London, Singapore, Mexico, Brazil, and Australia with an associate company in the USA. His areas of expertise are strategic thinking, change leadership, innovation and organisational transformation. He works with senior teams and boards developing strategic capacity. He also acts as a personal coach to a number of CEOs of large NGOs and INGOs. Bernard has worked for over 20 years with not-for-profit organisations helping them transform their performance. His customers include most of the major UK charities and many leading INGOs – ranging from Oxfam to UNICEF and from WHO to Greenpeace International. He is a regular keynote speaker on international platforms such as the Association of Fundraising Professionals (USA), the Institute of Fundraising (UK) and Resource Alliance.

Mary has been involved in the area of human rights for over 33 years. She set up Front Line - the International Foundation for the Protection of Human Rights Defenders in 2001. Front Line concentrates all its activities on human rights defenders at risk who work non-violently for the rights of others as enshrined in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. The aim is to protect defenders of human rights and provide them with “round the clock” practical support so that they can continue their work to build civil and just societies. As Director she represents the organisation nationally and internationally speaking at various high-level events. She has led Front Line missions to the field, managed and evaluated programmes and raised significant funds for the organisation. In 2008 Mary Lawlor won the Irish Life WMB Social Entrepreneur of the Year Award.

Daryl has 25 years experience of successfully founding and managing fundraising, communications and advocacy operations for NGOs in some 43 countries. He is known around the world for his leadership and innovation in fundraising and leads an international consultancy, Daryl Upsall Consulting International SL (DUCI) based in Spain, with associates worldwide, whose clients include many of the worlds leading NGOs and UN agencies. He is a regular speaker at numerous international non-profit sector conferences, is country ambassador for the Resource Alliance, a member of the Association of Professional Fundraisers (AEF) in Spain and the Institute of Fundraising (UK) and is Board Chair of EUConsult.

Jon was founding member of the fundraising group Cascaid in the UK, before hopping on a boat and becoming an established fundraiser in France. A leading actor on the European fundraising stage, Jon has been a board member of the European Fundraising Association and both the Chair and Director of the French Institute of Fundraising. After launching the Resources Non-Profit agency with the TBWA Group in 2006, Jon started bethechange to further his commitment to help NPOs develop and implement strategies for tomorrow’s fundraising challenges.

Ciara is Fundraising Manager at Special Olympics Ireland with responsibility for managing the fundraising team and delivering Special Olympics Ireland’s bi-annual all Ireland Fundraising campaign. Ciara was seconded from Bank of Ireland during the 2003 World Games in Dublin for 8 months. A native of Co Kildare Ciara then spent time in the Caribbean working as Marketing Manager for Digicel in 2004 and returned to Special Olympics as Special Events Coordinator in 2005, working on events such as the New York Half Marathon, 2007 World Games in China, Des Smyth Pro-Am, amongst other innovative campaigns.

Liz is the National Fundraising Coordinator for the Society of St Vincent de Paul since February 2008, with responsibility for all areas of fundraising, including corporate, community and individuals. Before that she was head of fundraising for the Irish Red Cross for a number of years, managing income streams for both domestic and international projects. Previous to this role, Liz worked for 3 years for a small not-for-profit organisation called ASF Limited in Canberra, Australia, where she was General Manager responsible for managing communications, marketing and sponsorship for the organisation.

Joe McKenna is an independent strategic planning and fundraising consultant with over 20 years’ experience in the foundation sector in the UK and Ireland. Based in Galway, he founded Venture Advancement in 2006 and works on a range of planning, development and income generation projects in the public, private and voluntary sector. He holds advanced degrees from the University of Notre Dame and Providence College in the USA.

Before joining Arthritis Ireland as Fundraising Manager in 2005 Nichola had over 10 years experience in the private sector. Nichola has a strong background in marketing and communications having worked as Director of Strategem Integrated Communications, working on global brands for major multinationals such as Diageo, Kerry Foods and Gilbeys. Nichola is Chair of Legacy Promotion Ireland which is a unique not for profit organisation that has been established as a joint initiative of 40 not-for-profit organisations in Ireland.

Mary founded O’Kennedy Consulting in 2002. OKC works across the not-for-profit sector advising organisations on fundraising strategy, campaign planning and tailored fundraising techniques. O’Kennedy Consulting also advises corporates and individual donors on their charitable giving strategies. Mary is founding Chair of Fundraising Ireland and is a regular speaker at events and seminars relating to the development of fundraising in Ireland. She also sits on the Board of EU Consult, the European Association of Consultants to the Not-For-Profit Sector. She previously worked as a fundraiser in Trocaire and DCU Educational Trust.

Ask the Professionals
This is a new session introduced this year to give delegates an opportunity to have a 15 minute one-to-one session with some of our speakers and members of Fundraising Ireland. Further details on topics that will be covered at each clinic will be available on arrival at the conference. Sessions will be booked on a first come first served basis and there will be a sign up sheet at the venue for anyone interested.
